The importance of parent nursery partnerships/How to work with us to help your child to do well
One of the most important aspects of nursery life is the partnership between the parents and the nursery. Having a sound knowledge of how to support your child’s learning enables a more consistent environment for education. Parents also know their children the best, passing over details about their children and their interests.
Children learn in a sequence of stages, generally the sequence of learning is the same for most children, however the rate of which children reach the milestones differs from each child. Having a steady parent partnership allows the key worker to work with the parents to support the learning of areas consistently, this speeds up the learning process and makes teaching more effective.
Building that relationship also supports in other aspects of family life, for example if a family were struggling with behaviour issues at home it is important to be able to discuss these issues and work together to overcome negative behaviour or other situations.
In terms of safeguarding, children are more confident to talk to practitioners that are welcoming and friendly. Having this relationship with the family builds up a level of trust with the children and parents encouraging communication with even the most difficult of subjects.
